Antonija Livingstone is an independent artist whose education in performance studies and choreography is self-directed and non-institutional. She works between Montréal and Berlin at the frontiers of dance and performance, maintaining a devotional performance practice and critically queer choreographic vision, while working together with sound and visual artists, choreographers, and strangers to make things that dance. Since her first solo exhibition, The Part (2004), Livingstone has rendered a series of co-authored works for video and live performance that “affirm a body of resistance to hegemonic norms.”
During her conference presentation, Antonija Livingstone will give an overview of her punk choreographer’s practice as a form of field research. This will include a lecture-demo of biofiction with anecdotes and live choreography as a parable. She will source from her own performance oeuvres Supernatural (2015), Culture Administration & Trembling ( 2014) and her present creation Études Hérétiques. There will be 2 guest participants keeping company with her for a short 5 minute intervention.
